On Thursday 25th January 2024, the halls of St John's Church School echoed with excitement as enthusiastic children from around Peterborough gathered for an enthralling encounter with the renowned author Jess French. The event, orchestrated by the National Literacy Trust in Peterborough, unfolded as an inspiring literary journey for Year 5 and 6 pupils.
The day commenced with a captivating morning session at St John’s, where Jess French shared insights into her latest masterpiece, "Beastlands: Race to Frostfall Mountain." The young minds were spellbound as they delved into an extract from the book, immersing themselves in the fantastical world created by the author.
As a parting gift, each participating school received copies of "Beastlands: Race to Frostfall Mountain" to enrich their school library spaces.
This memorable author visit not only showcased the power of literature but also emphasised the importance of fostering a vibrant reading culture within our school community. St John's extends it's gratitude to the National Literacy Trust for orchestrating this event, and give a special thanks to Jess French for igniting the spark of creativity and curiosity in the hearts of our students.
