Year 4 STEM Projects - Viking Longships to Set Sail

Writer's picture: Simon HollingsworthSimon Hollingsworth

Year 4 have been working hard to create their own version of a Viking longship ready for it to set sail across the deep, blue seas. At the time of posting the children designed their own Viking longship. Then, they worked within a group to build their design using materials supplied and from home.

The challenge was to build a Viking longboat that could: Hold 20 - 60 blocks (the Viking crew). Floats for 60 second on the high seas. Fastest to cross the wild open seas. We will complete our investigations tomorrow morning, due to high seas and poor weather (it was raining).
